About the Role & Team

IDC is seeking a Research Analyst to join our Wearables research team, with a focus on the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. In this role, you will support market research and analysis across our wearables coverage areas, including smartwatches, hearables, fitness trackers, smart rings, and smart glasses, helping to inform business strategy with data-driven insights. You'll work with diverse data sources, track fast-moving technology markets, and contribute to research that influences leading technology vendors and industry stakeholders across EMEA.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analyst who enjoys working with data, is curious about consumer technology markets, and wants to build strong analytical and research skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with both quantitative and qualitative data, can identify meaningful patterns and trends across a diverse and evolving regional landscape, and is eager to translate analysis into clear, actionable insights. Experience consolidating and evaluating data from multiple sources is important, along with a strong attention to detail, familiarity with regional market nuances across EMEA, and a willingness to learn. Comfort with vendor shipment tracking, sell-in and sell-out data, and unit share and growth calculations is a plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct primary market research on selected companies, product offerings, industry segments, and geographic markets to identify key drivers shaping the Wearables markets across EMEA.
  • Monitor and analyze vendor strategies, product launches, partnerships, earnings calls, and broader industry developments, including technology adoption use cases across smartwatches, hearables, fitness trackers, smart rings, and smart glasses.
  • Clean, validate, and transform data from multiple sources; maintain and update internal databases to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of market data.
  • Build and maintain data models that track key market metrics, trends, and performance indicators, including unit shipments, Average Selling Prices, and vendor share across EMEA sub-regions.
  • Support the development of market forecasts and predictive models using statistical and analytical methods to anticipate future trends and buyer behavior.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across research and consulting to develop customized market and vendor models for client engagements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all research program deliverables, adhering to IDC's quality standards.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of economic and statistical principles and their application to market analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience in market research, data analytics, technology business analysis, or financial modeling.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex datasets and developing predictive models using statistical tools and methodologies.
  • Critical and strategic thinking abilities, with an understanding of the broader business implications of data findings.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and report preparation.
  • Familiarity with GenAI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot, with the ability to demonstrate practical use cases.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI. Python or any similar coding experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills to effectively present research findings; additional European language proficiency is a plus given the EMEA regional focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple research projects, meet deadlines, and solve problems effectively across a fast-moving, geographically diverse market.
