IDC is seeking a Consulting Manager to work in our Custom Solutions group. The Business Value Delivery Consultant leads the end-to-end execution of Business Value projects, ensuring delivery is on time, on budget, and aligned with client expectations. This role bridges pre-sales feasibility validation and project delivery, working closely with Business Value analysts and domain analysts who apply IDC's proprietary Business Value methodology to create high value, data-driven content marketing assets.
In addition to being a well-rounded project manager, the candidate should be enthusiastic about working with a diverse group of project stakeholders to deliver compelling content marketing assets which quantify the business benefits of technology solutions/services. The Consulting Manager is focused on execution and delivery of the project, working with analysts who provide insightful analysis and context, as well as third parties that support delivery of these projects. The role requires:
- Expert coordination of resources – both internal and external - on complex engagements in a dynamic, challenging, and exciting consulting environment
- Proven project or program management skills in a consulting or services environment
- Ability to manage complexity, timelines, and cross-functional resources
- The ability to lead client communications with confidence and poise, and interact articulately with client senior leaders
- Adept budget tracking, project reporting, and an appreciation for how these impact team financial performance
Strong written and spoken English language skills, as almost all internal and client interactions will be conducted in English
This role will offer growth opportunities in the form of varied exposure to IDC's custom solutions, experience in specific market research methodologies, and client leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Validate feasibility and delivery approach during the proposal phase in collaboration with the Solution Consultant.
- Lead project delivery for Business Value engagements, with an emphasis on minimizing project timelines through proactive milestone and client management
- Own project planning, resource coordination, and delivery execution across internal teams, particularly the BV Analysis and interview teams, and external partners, based proposal requirements
- Perform core project management functions, including:
- Creating and monitoring workplans
- Effective meeting management
- Driving ongoing team communications (internal & external)
- Managing competing priorities
- Drive cross-functional coordination, including dependencies from internal and third-party contributors.
- Monitor and manage timeline, budget, scope, and risks with transparency and control.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution, ensuring strong communication and alignment (this may require occasional (reasonable) time zone flexibility depending on the client location
- Escalate and resolve delivery issues proactively, maintaining high client satisfaction throughout.
- Ultimately, bear responsibility for the successful delivery of all projects managed
- Drive process consistency and excellence across all Business Value project delivery
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, Master's degree is not required but a plus (MBA, etc.)
- 5 years of professional experience with a focus on client service and project management
- Subject matter expertise and a working knowledge of the ICT market is advantageous - A macro-level and ecosystem understanding of a broad set of technology topics and themes is desirable.
- Understanding of market research and related methodologies (e.g., qualitative and quantitative research, market modeling, etc.)
- Experienced in MS Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Proven skills with Excel are expected and the candidate should be comfortable with performing calculations and analysis in Excel
- The ability to bring productive energy and intellectual leadership to cross-disciplinary project teams consisting of analyst subject matter experts and other IDC resources to bring the best out of the analysis and custom insights generated on projects.
- Strong analytical skills and writing ability are required for this position as well as the ability to present project findings confidently to senior audiences.
- Excellent communication skills with written and oral communication.
- Strong project management skills are essential. PMP certification a plus
- Travel generally less than 10%
