Overview

IDC is looking for a highly skilled QA Team Leader to drive the vision and execution of quality assurance across our product portfolio. Guided by our QA vision - Build Faster / Test Smarter / Run Better — this role is primarily about leading and developing a QA organization of ~15 engineers: setting direction, mentoring, and fostering cross-team collaboration. While the focus is on leadership, strategy, and orchestration, the ideal candidate is also capable of occasionally testing or writing tests to guide best practices and lead by example.

This is an opportunity to shape QA practices across a diverse product portfolio, influence strategy, and build a collaborative, high-impact team that consistently delivers reliable, high-quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers (~15), fostering professional growth, cross-team collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Define and implement QA strategies, processes, and best practices to improve automation, coverage, and efficiency.
  • Drive the adoption of automation and ensure tight integration with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
  • Oversee test case quality and automation frameworks, ensuring consistent execution across all products.
  • Lead the use of AI in test case creation and automation, identifying opportunities, piloting tools, and driving adoption across the QA team.
  • Occasionally contribute hands-on to test design or automation to demonstrate standards and coach team members.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and maintain a strong, up-to-date QA knowledge base within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with development, product, and maintenance teams to ensure product quality and minimize production defects.
  • Track and report QA metrics (coverage, defect leakage, automation ROI, cycle time), using data to drive improvements and support business decisions.
  • Ensure QA activities align with business goals, supporting timely and reliable product delivery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (3+ years) leading QA teams in a complex, multi-product environment.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills with the ability to break down silos and align teams.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and data-driven quality.
  • 8+ years of experience in software testing.
  • Hands-on experience in manual and automated testing (5+ years) with the ability to occasionally contribute to team deliverables.
  • Proficiency in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Selenide).
  • Knowledge of programming languages for test automation (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of database querying (SQL).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) and cloud-native test environments (Kubernetes, containers).
  • Familiarity with AI-driven QA tools and approaches is a strong plus.
