Overview

IDC is looking to grow our successful global events portfolio by adding a Product Marketing Manager who can deliver on its 3-year event marketing growth plans in each of IDC’s 12 primary international business regions.

The Product Marketing Manager for IT Events will play a pivotal role in transforming our event business by designing new event packages that integrate products and services from our various business units in new ways. This role requires a strategic thinker who can work cross-functionally to align business objectives, create compelling value propositions, and drive engagement with both event attendees and sponsors.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Events leadership team to reimagine and transform our event offerings, ensuring they deliver increased value for both attendees and sponsors.
  • Product Innovation: Partner with the Events business leadership to define and develop new event packages, leveraging insights from different business units. Establish business cases, validate concepts with customers and prospects, and ensure alignment with overall company strategy.
  • Packaging & Pricing Development: Support the development of event sponsorship packaging and pricing strategies. Conduct research and validation exercises with prospects, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure market fit, competitive positioning, and willingness to pay (WTP).
  • Messaging & Positioning: Create compelling messaging, positioning, and narratives for event packages that resonate with target audiences. Ensure that all communications reflect the value and differentiation of our event offerings.
  • Content Development: Own the development of standard product marketing frameworks, such as competitive assessment, positioning & messaging. Create and partner to develop key pieces of content, including datasheets, rate cards, web copy, presentations, and more. Provide messaging and support the Marketing team for development of marketing content like demand generation and digital market content.
  • Launch Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of event product launches. Organize and guide a cross-functional team across Marketing, Sales, Channel, Customer Success, Finance, Legal, and other departments to ensure all deliverables are met. Drive the team to deliver a successful event on time, ensuring alignment across all functions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Corporate Marketing to drive awareness, interest, and monetization of event packages. Collaborate with Sales, Events, and Business Development teams to ensure cohesive execution and delivery.
  • Market Research & Insights: Continuously monitor industry trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform the development and refinement of event packages. Provide actionable insights to guide strategic decisions and improve offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably in the technology or data industries.
  • Proven track record of developing and launching successful products or services.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and business units.
  • Experience with pricing strategy, market research, and customer validation techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
