Overview

IDC is currently seeking a Senior Research Analyst to cover our regional research on enterprise applications (i.e. ERP, Human Capital Management, and Finance Applications) in Europe. The research analyzes these markets in terms of competitive dynamics and vendor shares, future developments and market forecasts, impact of AI, buyer preferences and adoption trends, and how new technologies impact back office business processes.

 

The Senior Research Analyst will gain valuable insights and knowledge on how enterprise software technologies are used in Europe and gradually build a personal brand. This is a highly visible position that requires the candidate to participate in new research initiatives, help develop cutting-edge quantitative forecasts and complementary qualitative insights, participate in business development activities, and gradually assume speaking engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating and cooperating with IDC's European software research team as well as with global counterparts and relevant industry analysts around the world.
  • Publishing and presenting innovative, insightful, and actionable quantitative and qualitative research on relevant software industry trends. This work includes writing well-researched and concise reports, generating forecasts, survey data and case study analysis, offering actionable market commentary and presenting findings to vendors according to a well-defined research schedule.
  • Supporting marketing, business development, sales prospecting and support efforts with new or existing clients.
  • Scoping, creating and delivering customer research deliverables to clients.
  • Driving the creation of IDC Market Shares, Forecasts, MarketScapes, FutureScape, market surveys, and other research deliverables.

Qualifications

  • A BA/BS college degree is required with a preference towards a graduate level MBA/MA/MS degree.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience related to market research, enterprise software, and/or business applications.
  • A strong curiosity of enterprise software technologies and strategies, and broader information technology in general.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to get things done and work with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with the ability to work with Microsoft Excel.
  • Solid time and task management skills are required, i.e. balancing multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Travel is expected to be limited (less than 10%).
